Another February Album Writing Month (FAWM) one hour skirmish. The prompt was one word, "Blade."
Trying to land while another jet is taking off
Hoping the crosswind doesn't kick up and
Two jets touch like blades of grass.
Adjusting the landing path
Does the trick
But for those who knew what happened
They're shaking like blades of windblown grass
Close call
The blade doesn't always need to be sharp
Just seeing the blade up close
Is scary enough.
Trying to get out the door without being seen or heard
Hoping he doesn't come home unexpectedly and see
She can't handle any more words that cut deep
Deep into her heart and mind
They might just be words
But they're sharp as a blade
Being jabbed and turn into her heart.
Close call
The blade doesn't always need to be sharp
Just seeing the blade up close
Is scary enough.
Chef in the kitchen using his own knives
Says the blades need to be sharpened, to cut thin and precise.
Cook in the kitchen using what's supplied
The blades aren't always sharp
Some aren't straight.
But he's learned how to hold them
To get the blade to cut just right.
But he knows for a Close call
The blade doesn't always need to be sharp
Just seeing the blade up close
Can be scary enough.
Don't want to crash and burn
Don't want to get cut deeper
Don't want to take get cut at all
They watch that blade carefully.
for a Close call
The blade doesn't always need to be sharp
Just seeing the blade up close
Can be scary enough.
